Rotimi, the Nigerian-American actor and singer best known for his role in Power, has shared a candid look into his life since tying the knot. In a heartfelt message to fans, he revealed that he no longer drinks or engages in much of the social scene. The reason? His marriage.
“I don’t even do socials like that anymore,” the entertainer confessed. “I don’t drink anymore. I’m committed to my wife, and that’s the best decision I’ve ever made.”

His statement, which first appeared on Instagram and was echoed across TikTok by fans, has sparked conversation online. For some, it was a refreshing take on personal growth and responsibility. For others, it raised questions about the pressures and sacrifices that come with fame and marriage.
Rotimi, who married Tanzanian singer Vanessa Mdee in 2021, has been vocal about prioritising his family life. The couple welcomed their first child in 2021 and have since embraced a quieter, more private lifestyle.
“Once you become a husband and father, everything changes,” Rotimi said in a previous interview. “What mattered to me before doesn’t anymore. I’m focused on creating peace and protecting what we’ve built.”
The shift in his lifestyle has not gone unnoticed. Some fans applauded his honesty and maturity, calling it a welcome contrast to the typical celebrity narrative of constant partying and online presence. Others, however, expressed concern about the pressure for public figures to make such stark lifestyle shifts for the sake of appearances or expectations.

Social media analyst Tasha Bell notes that more public figures are choosing to “step away” from the digital spotlight. “There’s a growing trend among celebrities to pull back. It’s not just about privacy—it’s about mental health, family, and setting boundaries.”
Rotimi’s choice to quit alcohol also echoes a broader shift in celebrity culture. From Brad Pitt to Tom Holland, several A-listers have openly discussed giving up drinking for personal or professional reasons.
Still, Rotimi’s message feels deeply personal. It wasn’t polished or packaged. It was a simple admission from a man who seems to have found clarity in commitment.
Whether it’s a permanent step or part of a longer personal journey, one thing is clear: Rotimi isn’t chasing clout. He’s chasing peace.
