Kenya Issues Urgent Warning to Citizens in Israel and Iran as Conflict Deepens

NAIROBI — Kenya has issued a high-alert security advisory to its citizens living in Israel and Iran, urging them to stay indoors, limit movement, and register with embassies as tensions between the two countries continue to rise.

Principal Secretary for Diaspora Affairs Roseline Njogu delivered the advisory on Wednesday, stressing the growing danger to Kenyans living in both countries. “The safety and well-being of Kenyans abroad remain our utmost priority as the situation in the Middle East continues to evolve,” Njogu stated.

Fighting between Israel and Iran has escalated in recent weeks, leading to disruptions in air travel, increased military deployments, and warnings from multiple governments to their citizens abroad. Kenya’s advisory aligns with similar moves by other nations preparing for possible emergency evacuations and rapid response plans.

Key Guidelines for Citizens in Affected Zones

Njogu’s statement outlined a clear set of instructions:

  • Avoid non-essential travel and movement.
  • Remain indoors as much as possible.
  • Follow instructions from local authorities.
  • Stay updated through local news and official bulletins.
  • Maintain contact with family and friends.
  • Prepare key documents and emergency kits.

Kenyans in distress are encouraged to immediately contact the Kenyan embassies in Tel Aviv or Tehran. The Diaspora Affairs Department has made emergency contact numbers and email available:

Phone :+254 20 7876000 / +254 114 757002
📧 [email protected]

Njogu added, “Register your presence with the Kenyan mission near you if you have not done so. It’s essential for coordination in case emergency support or evacuation becomes necessary.”

Government on High Alert

The Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs has placed its missions in both Israel and Iran on full monitoring mode. Njogu confirmed that the government is watching developments closely and will issue further guidance as needed.

“We are committed to the protection and welfare of all Kenyans abroad,” she emphasized, assuring that all necessary interventions would be carried out if the situation worsens.

The advisory follows rising international concern, with major airports in the region tightening security protocols and diplomatic channels under strain. Kenyan officials say they are coordinating with global partners to ensure Kenyan nationals are not left behind in any emergency scenario.

As the conflict deepens, the government has reiterated its readiness to act swiftly. Citizens are urged to stay informed and prioritize safety until tensions subside.
