Dar es Salaam, Tanzania — All eyes are on the Azam Complex this evening as Kenya’s Harambee Starlets clash with Tanzania’s Twiga Stars in a decisive CECAFA Women’s Championship final. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. East African Time.
Both teams come into the match undefeated. Kenya and Tanzania have each won their opening three matches, collecting 9 points apiece. Tanzania holds the top spot on goal difference, edging Kenya by a single goal.
The equation is simple: a win hands Kenya the championship. A draw, however, will see Tanzania lift the trophy on home soil.
Tanzania head coach Bakari Shime acknowledged the magnitude of the contest, calling it a valuable test for his players. “I know it will be a tough match, and we must be at our best,” he told CECAFA Online.
On the Kenyan side, head coach Beldine Odemba is confident her squad is ready. “We can get the job done if they stick to the script,” Odemba said. “This will be a very tough match, but we should not give them the spaces and stick to our game plan.”
The Starlets have looked sharp throughout the tournament, defeating Uganda, Rwanda, and Burundi. Tanzania, meanwhile, eased past Ethiopia, South Sudan, and Rwanda to secure their place in the final.
Earlier in the day, Burundi will take on South Sudan in the third-place playoff at 4 p.m.
The CECAFA Women’s Championship has grown into a key regional contest, providing a platform for top East African talent. Tonight’s final promises intensity, pride, and high-stakes football. The winner takes it all.
