Governor Wavinya Demands Accountable Leadership, Warns Against Reckless Politics
MACHAKOS – Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti has urged leaders across the country to uphold unity, fairness, and responsibility in the face of growing public discontent over governance.
Addressing congregants during a Sunday church service in Machakos, Governor Wavinya appealed for reform-driven leadership and called on national figures to avoid inflammatory rhetoric. She stressed that public officials must be cautious in their communication, especially during a time when Kenyans are demanding responsive governance.
“Reckless and divisive statements only fuel public anger,” Wavinya said. “Our people want leaders who listen, serve fairly, and speak responsibly.”
Her remarks follow growing frustration among young Kenyans over perceived government inaction and exclusion from decision-making. She warned that ignoring the youth could deepen national unrest.
“The youth want accountability and governance systems that deliver,” she added. “We must listen to them.”
Wavinya challenged leaders at every level to prioritize reforms that ensure transparency and inclusion. She argued that development and peace are not possible without a leadership culture rooted in justice and fairness.
The governor also acknowledged the role of faith institutions in shaping values among the youth. She encouraged young people to remain grounded in spiritual teachings and to seek guidance from religious communities.
“We must support our youth not just with opportunities, but with values. The church has remained a moral compass and a voice of reason in this nation,” she said.
