Nairobi – Aga Khan University Hospital has opened its 54th outreach medical center in Nairobi, strengthening its network of healthcare access points across the region. The new facility is located along Rhapta Road in Westlands and will serve residents with a full range of general and specialist health services.
The hospital’s latest expansion is part of its mission to make quality medical care more accessible. The Westlands center will offer services in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, ENT, Family Medicine, Counseling Psychology, Vaccination, Nutrition, and a Well-Baby Clinic. The facility is equipped with a laboratory, ultrasound services, and an on-site pharmacy.
During the official launch, Minet Kenya CEO Sammy Muthui noted the critical role of outreach centers in closing healthcare gaps. “The opening of this medical center symbolizes hope and inclusion for the over 46 percent of Kenyans who rely on private providers like Aga Khan University Hospital,” Muthui said. He highlighted that Kenya’s health facility-to-population ratio stands at 2.4 per 10,000, underscoring the urgency of improving access.
Rashid Khalani, the hospital’s CEO, emphasized the center’s commitment to quality and convenience. “This medical center is not just a building—it is a promise to deliver quality and accessible care closer to where people live and work,” Khalani said. “Rhapta Medical Centre will uphold the same rigorous quality standards that define our care, with well-trained staff and evidence-based medicine.”
The hospital now operates 50 medical centers in Kenya and 4 in Uganda. Its additional services include mobile lab sample collection, home medication delivery, and home care.
The Rhapta Road facility is designed to serve both individuals and families, aiming to improve early detection, outpatient care, and health outcomes across Nairobi’s western suburbs.
