NAIROBI — The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has reopened its online portal to allow students another chance to revise their course selections for the 2025/2026 academic year.
The portal, now active until 27 May 2025, targets candidates who either missed placement during the initial application window or have not yet applied for any tertiary programme.
In a statement on Saturday, KUCCPS said the opportunity is open to three key groups:
- 2024 KCSE candidates with C+ and above who did not apply for university or college placement during the earlier round.
- Form Four leavers who applied between January and April 2025 but were not placed in any programme. These applicants have been notified via SMS and through the KUCCPS student portal.
- Candidates from past KCSE classes (2000–2024) who have never enrolled in any college or university programme through KUCCPS. They are now eligible to apply for diploma, craft, or artisan courses under the TVET category.
To apply or revise choices, students must log in through the KUCCPS website and access the Student’s Portal tab.
“We urge all eligible applicants to take advantage of this final revision window,” the placement agency said. “No student who qualifies should miss a chance to pursue further education.”
The move comes amid growing pressure to make higher education more accessible, particularly for those from underprivileged backgrounds or remote areas who may have missed earlier announcements.
The window also serves to fill slots in programmes that still have capacity, especially in technical and vocational education and training (TVET) institutions an area the government has been pushing to expand as part of its job creation strategy.
As Kenya continues to grapple with high youth unemployment, education experts have welcomed the effort to cast a wider net.
“This process gives those who may have fallen through the cracks another shot,” said Dr Mary Wanjiru, an education policy analyst. “It’s also a reminder that pathways to success aren’t limited to university alone.”
Students are encouraged to carefully consider their choices and consult available resources to ensure their selections align with their strengths and career goals.
With less than ten days to go, the message from KUCCPS is clear: check your status, log in, and act fast.
