Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have apprehended four Wells Fargo staff suspected of aiding in the recent Ksh 94,918,750 Quickmart heist that sent shockwaves through the nation.
The quartet, identified as Joel Oyuchi Mweseli, Harrison Mugendi Njeru, Caleb Ouma Okinyi, and Ronald Ouma Oluu, were taken into custody as investigators intensify their search for two prime suspects believed to be the masterminds behind the audacious robbery.

Joel Oyuchi Mweseli, identified as the planner within Wells Fargo, and Harrison Mugendi Njeru, the head of drivers, are among those in custody. Caleb Ouma Okinyi, serving as a fleet supervisor, and Ronald Ouma Oluu, responsible for overseeing crew commanders, complete the list of the detained individuals. All four are set to appear in court on Monday, November 27, 2023.
“Their roles in the heist go beyond negligence, and we believe they played a key part in the orchestration of this criminal act,” the DCI statement emphasized.

The investigation, triggered by the heist that occurred a fortnight ago, has so far led to the arrest of eight individuals connected to the crime. Among the initial four apprehended, Ismael Patrick Gitonga, the owner and driver of the vehicle suspected to have transported the stolen cash, was taken into custody in Rongai.

The detectives traced the vehicle to Njiru within the Kayole area, where Michael Matolo Njeru and Samwel Onyango were caught modifying the vehicle, presumably in an attempt to conceal it.
The final suspect of the first four, Martin Nderi Nganga, was apprehended in Kasarani, where a startling discovery of Ksh.9.1 million concealed in a jerrycan and suitcase was made at his rented residence.
