Clarkson gleefully shared, “You know what’s so funny? She just sent me flowers. She’s so nice.” She went on, “Every time I release something, she makes sure to send flowers. I got that really cute cardigan, too,” referencing the thoughtful gift from Swift.
Swift’s journey into re-recording her albums traces back to a pivotal moment in 2019 when Clarkson suggested on Twitter that Swift should re-record her music, following a change in ownership of Swift’s original masters after Scooter Braun’s company, Ithaca Holdings, acquired them from Big Machine.
@taylorswift13 just a thought, U should go in & re-record all the songs that U don’t own the masters on exactly how U did them but put brand new art & some kind of incentive so fans will no longer buy the old versions. I’d buy all of the new versions just to prove a point 💁🏼♀️

Since then, Swift has passionately re-recorded albums from her catalog previously owned by Braun, with “Taylor’s Version” editions of 1989, Fearless, Red, and Speak Now, all debuting at Number One on Billboard’s albums chart.
In reflecting on Swift’s re-recordings, Clarkson noted, “She’s a very smart businesswoman. So, she would have thought of that.”
She expressed admiration for Swift’s determination, stating, “But it just sucks when you see artists that you admire and you respect really wanting something and it’s special to them. You know if they’re going to find a loophole, you find a loophole. And she did it.”
Acknowledging Swift’s success and the impact of her re-releases, Clarkson added, “She literally is, like, the best-selling artist I feel like of all-time now.”
