For visitors arriving in Ghana over the next holiday season, the Ghanaian government, acting through the Ministry of Transport, has announced the return of the visa-on-arrival policy.
For the “December in GH” activities, the government has approved non-preapproval visas on arrival for travellers arriving in Ghana between December 1, 2023, and January 15, 2024. The pre-approval waiver has been approved as a component of the 10-year “Beyond the Return” strategy, namely the “December in GH” campaign.
The purpose of the visa-on-arrival program, according to a statement provided to local media, is to facilitate and promote more people travelling to Ghana over the holiday season.“The Government of Ghana hopes to draw more tourists to enjoy the distinctive cultural heritage, lively events, and festivals during the holiday season by expediting the visa process.”
It further stated that the waiver would strengthen Ghana’s standing as the go-to destination for travellers and investors from the diaspora and beyond, strengthen ties between Ghana and the international community, and present chances for both cultural exchange and economic growth, all in keeping with the goals of the “Beyond the Return” initiative.
