Speaking during a radio interview Today morning, Dr. Monda reassured parents, stating that there is no need for panic.

“Most of them have already returned to school; it is only a few who remain hospitalized due to other health issues,” Dr. Monda remarked.

Reports indicate that 23 students were treated for severe stomach pains at Keroka Sub County Hospital, while an additional 76 were admitted to Gucha Maternity Hospital and 55 to St. Catherine Ichuni Mission Hospital, all displaying similar symptoms.

This incident follows a similar outbreak in July, where 163 students of Ikonge Pag girls were admitted to various Nyamira county hospitals due to the consumption of contaminated water.

This trend has raised questions and concerns among stakeholders in the education sector, particularly parents, regarding the safety of the food and water supplied to students in schools.
