In a meeting at Russia’s Vostochny Cosmodrome, North Korea leader Kim Jong Un and Russian President Vladimir Putin have embarked on talks that could have far-reaching implications for both nations and the international community.
As the two leaders began their discussions, President Putin welcomed Chairman Kim, saying, “Dear Chairman, I’m very glad to see and host you in Russia. This time, as we agreed, at the Vostochny Cosmodrome.”

This marks their first face-to-face encounter since 2019 when they met in Vladivostok.
Kim Jong Un expressed his gratitude, saying, “I’m so grateful you are paying such attention to our visit to Russia. I’m sure we will remain together in the fight against imperialism.”
The talks have taken place amid heightened tension, with North Korea recently launching two missiles – a departure from the norm, as Kim was not in the country during the launch.
This unusual move has raised eyebrows and added an element of unpredictability to the meeting.
One of the key things emerging from this meeting is Russia’s offer to assist North Korea in building satellites.
After two failed satellite launch attempts this year, Putin’s offer could signify a significant step in enhancing North Korea’s space capabilities.
While there are concerns that the leaders may finalize an arms deal that could bolster Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, President Putin remained tight-lipped on this matter, saying that “the two leaders would discuss all issues.”
The agenda of the talks, as confirmed by Putin, includes discussions on “economic cooperation” and “humanitarian issues.” These discussions reflect the deepening relationship between the two nations.

As both delegations came together for the talks, it became evident that the negotiations could encompass a wide range of issues, as top diplomats and military commanders from both sides were present.
Kim’s delegation included key figures like Ri Pyong Chol and Pak Jong Chon, highlighting the gravity of the discussions.
Kim’s influential sister, Kim Yo Jong, also accompanied him to Russia. She has been a prominent figure, particularly known for her strong warnings against U.S. and South Korean military drills in the Korean Peninsula.
In addition to all these, Kim Jong Un appeared to express support for Russia’s invasion of Ukraine during the talks.
He stated, “Russia has risen to a sacred fight to protect its sovereignty and security against the hegemonic forces. North Korea supports all Putin’s decisions.”
This declaration adds another layer of complexity to the geopolitical landscape, as it suggests North Korea aligning itself with Russia’s actions in Ukraine.
China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi is also set to visit Moscow for talks with Sergei Lavrov, Russia’s foreign minister, further emphasizing the evolving dynamics in the region.
