John Paul Okwiri has assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer at Konza Technopolis Development Authority (KoTDA), where he will lead the implementation of the Konza Technopolis project.
The agency announced Okwiri’s appointment, highlighting his dynamic and visionary leadership style, along with his track record in successfully managing strategic infrastructure and innovation projects using various resource models.
Prior to this appointment, Okwiri served as the acting CEO of KoTDA for the past ten months, taking over from John Tanui, who was appointed as the Principal Secretary for the Ministry of Information Communication and the Digital Economy last year.
In his new role, Okwiri will be responsible for providing strategic direction to Konza Technopolis as it strives to become a prominent global Technopolis and innovation hub.
Throughout his career, Okwiri has played a pivotal role in delivering large-scale projects at Konza Technopolis, including the successful completion of Konza Phase 1 Horizontal Infrastructure and the establishment of the Kenya Advanced Institute of Science and Technology.
Additionally, he played a key role in securing the 41st International Association of Science Parks (IAPS) 2024 Conference for Konza Technopolis and mobilizing resources for the construction of a tier 3 National Data Center, thereby enhancing Kenya’s cloud infrastructure and Data Center services.
Okwiri’s educational background includes an MBA in Procurement & Supply Chain Management from the University of Nairobi and a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting.

He is a certified Professional Member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (MCIPS-UK) and the Kenya Institute of Supplies & Management (MKISM). Furthermore, he holds certification as a FIDIC Dispute Adjudication Board (DAB) Expert.
