Esther Shanice Omwenga commonly known as Shan Wanita died in a car accident on September 16. She is yet to be buried two weeks later due to family feuds as mentioned by her mother and best friend.
Speaking to the press, Shan’s mother mentioned they went to pick up her daughter’s body from the mortuary but found it was missing. She was told people posing as family members came to pick up her body.
“My daughter was supposed to be buried tomorrow. We have some family issues which are supposed to be sorted out. There are people who came here as so-called relatives. They stole my daughter’s body. I’m here in Umash na sitoki hapa bila body ya mtoto wangu.”
Shans’s best friend, Mungai narrated what happened moments before Shan died. She explained the details of the horrific accident that killed her best friend. Mungai explained they were on their way to Mombasa when they had the accident.

She narrated that Kevin suggested they go to Mombasa that Friday morning. She then reached out to her friend Shan to come along with them. On their way around 10 pm., she explained that the car lost control and they started to spin before she was thrown out of the vehicle.
“So I called my bestfriend nikamwambia akuje twende Mombasa. Tulikuwa tunadrive usiku. So around 10pm gari ililose control.Tukaanza kuoverturn, kati ya ku overturn nikatupwa nje ya dirisha.”
Mungai then went on to narrate what she saw after she regained consciousness from the accident. She shared that she saw Shan bleeding from the head and that her child had already been taken to the hospital.
“When I woke up, I guess nililose consciousness. When I woke up ndio nikapata Shan amelala kwa barabara na Kevin amelala apokando ya gari. Shan alikuwa anableed kichwa, sikuwa naangalia Kevin.”
Mungai went on to explain what happened when she was taken to the hospital. She explained that when she requested to see her friend Shan and boyfriend Kevin, she was denied access because they were already taken to the mortuary.
“Wakatupeleka hosi Sultan.Tukaambiwa tulete mtoto MP Shah Nairobi. So mimi kwa room nilikuwa nadungwa Masindano, I said I want to go see Kevin and Shan. Nikaambiwa siwezi kubalishwa kuwaona, washapelekwa Morgue.”
She then requested that people assist the families of Kevin and Shan, adding that it has not been easy for both families. She added that there have been too many issues preventing them from being buried two weeks after their death.
