On July 30, the Kenyan entertainment industry was struck with sad news. DJ Babu whose real name is Robert Kinuthia, was involved in a horrific car accident and died while his girlfriend, Moraa made it alive but with injuries.
Content creator, David Moya known for his romantic gesture of dancing and giving flowers to women, decided to surprise Moraa, the late DJ Babu’s girlfriend during his Dubai tour. In a video that was shared online, Moraa who is still recovering from the accident is overwhelmed with emotion when David Moyaa surprised her.
David managed to get Moraa to smile with his dancing. He also shared the words of encouragement, prayers and well-wishes from Kenyans. David urged for people to continue praying for Moraa and DJ Babu’s family as they go through the loss.
During my visit in Dubai, myself together with some close friends organized a surprise visit to Moraa, the late DJ Babu’s girlfriend who survived a fatal accident. At least she afforded a smile after everything she has gone through. Let’s keep her family and the late DJ Babu’s family in our prayers.

DJ Babu had just hosted a group of Kenyan artists in Dubai and made headlines for a successful event before the sudden and shocking news of his death. DJ Babu played a major role in the growth of Kenyan music globally. His establishment, Jamdown Dubai facilitated gigs for Kenyan artists as well as Kenyan music abroad.
He was celebrated by friends, family and other Kenyan celebrities during his funeral in his hometown, Murang’a. DJ Babu had created a legacy that would be remembered down the line especially since Kenyan music has been struggling to get a global audience in comparison to Nigerian or Tanzanian music.
