Prince Harry Stripped of His Royal Highness Title

Harry

Buckingham Palace has discreetly revised the official titles of Prince Harry on their website. The change aligns with the decision made after the widely discussed ‘Megxit,’ which stated that Prince Harry, along with Meghan Markle, would no longer retain their HRH (His Royal Highness) titles following their departure from senior royal roles.

Prince Harry’s title has been updated on the Royal Family’s official website to read simply as ‘The Duke’ or ‘The Duke of Sussex,’ reflecting his current standing.

This update mirrors a similar modification made for Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, three years ago after her relocation to Los Angeles. However, traces of the HRH title remain in certain sections, such as a quote from a 2019 speech.

The Duke of Sussex has always shown a determined spirit, as evidenced by his recent arrival in Tokyo. Radiating positivity, Prince Harry warmly greeted reporters, stating, “Good to see you again.” His visit to Tokyo is centered around a summit focusing on sports, community, and philanthropy.

The summit holds special significance as it resonates with Prince Harry’s unwavering dedication to philanthropic endeavors. His involvement with the Sentebale Polo Cup match in Singapore stands as a testament to this commitment.

The event, dedicated to supporting youth affected by HIV/AIDS, has raised over $14 million over the years to bolster Sentebale’s efforts in southern Africa.

Speaking passionately about Sentebale’s mission, Prince Harry emphasized, “The annual Polo Cup is essential to Sentebale’s vital work ensuring children and young people are healthy, resilient, and able to thrive.” He stressed the importance of destigmatizing HIV in an era where misconceptions persist despite medical advancements.

The website revision also brings to light Prince Harry’s engagement in raising awareness about HIV/AIDS. In 2016, he underwent a public HIV test at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital, a testament to his commitment to eradicating stigmas associated with the condition. Previously referred to as “His Royal Highness,” he is now recognized as “The Duke” in this context.

Amidst these changes, the broader context of the Royal Family’s shifting dynamics becomes apparent. The revision to the website comes after Prince Harry and Meghan’s decision to step back from their roles as senior royals, leading to the cessation of their HRH titles. This step was taken in January 2020 and marked a turning point in the modern history of the monarchy.

Furthermore, as the line of succession evolves, Prince Harry’s position remains noteworthy. Despite relinquishing his HRH title, he retains his place as fifth in line for the throne, following his brother Prince William and the children of the Prince and Princess of Wales.

The recent updates to the website also reflect the changing titles of other members of the Royal Family, including King Charles III and Queen Camilla. These adjustments highlight the ongoing transformation within the monarchy as it adapts to new circumstances and reigns.

In a statement to Express, the Palace stated, “The Royal Family website contains over five thousand pages of information about the life and work of the Royal Family. Following the death of Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, content has been revisited and updated periodically. Some content may be out of date until this process is complete.”
