KenGen, a prominent player in the energy sector, has named Eng. Peter Waweru Njenga as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer. The official announcement, delivered by the company’s board on Thursday, signals a significant leadership transition.
Eng. Njenga assumes this role after a period of interim stewardship by Mr. Abraham Serem. His previous role as General Manager for Infrastructure Development at Kenya Power and Lighting Company PLC showcases his experience in senior management, spanning a five-year tenure.
With thirty-one years of corporate leadership and management involvement in the energy sector, Eng. Njenga’s career trajectory began as a graduate trainee in 1991 at Kenya Power and Lighting Company PLC.
His academic foundation includes a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from the esteemed University of Nairobi, supplemented by a Master’s Degree in Business Administration with a focus on Strategic Management from the same institution.
