A British nurse, Lucy Letby has been found guilty of murdering seven newborn children and attempting to murder six other children.
The nurse took advantage of the parents’ fear and the vulnerability of unwell newborns to commit the offenses in a period span of one year, between June 2015 and June 2016.
Parents were exposed to her morbid curiosity and her fake compassion. Too many of them returned home to empty baby rooms. Many surviving children live with permanent consequences of her assaults upon their lives.

According to a report by CBS News, neonatal nurse Lucy Letby was accused of killing the children by overfeeding them with milk and injecting them with air and insulin. Letby intentionally poisoned two of the infants with insulin, according to the police report.
Prosecutors testified throughout the long trial, which began in October of last year, that in 2015, the hospital saw a sharp increase in the number of infants dying or experiencing unexpected, sudden declines in health. After receiving assistance from medical personnel, some of the children who had “serious catastrophic collapses” survived.
They claimed Letby was present in each incident and referred to her as a “constant malevolent presence” in the neonatal section when the infants passed away or collapsed. They claimed the nurse injured the infants in ways that left little to no evidence and convinced her coworkers that the deaths were usual.
The jury, composed of seven women and four men deliberated for 22 days before reaching the guilty verdict in the case. Although the nurse denied all the charges against her, she is expected to appear in court for sentencing on Monday.

Although the reasons why she committed the crimes are unknown, Lucy Letby has been named as the most prolific child killer in Great Britain.
