Uhuru Kenyatta Speaks After Raid on Son’s Home, Pledges to Defend His Family

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has come out all guns blazing accusing the state of targeting his family after a raid of his son’s home.

The raid was reportedly meant to ascertain whether there were firearms in the residence. Speaking to the media outside his son, Jomo Kenyatta’s Karen home, the former president has outrightly denied that he is facilitating the ongoing anti-government demonstrations. Leaders of the Kenya Kwanza coalition, have repeatedly accused Uhuru of funding the maandamano.

He has suggested that the Kenya Kwanza government should work on addressing Kenyans’ concerns. The frustrated retired president has urged the government to keep his family out of the political mess, even challenging the president to come for him directly.

Uhuru has vowed that he will defend his family from harm in the best way he could saying, ‘The safety of my family has been threatened, and that’s why I’m here. I have been quiet, but being quiet does not mean I will not defend my family. I will defend my family, I defended Kenya during my presidency to the best of my ability and I will now do the best that I can do to defend my family.

Uhuru Kenyatta has asserted that he will not let his family be intimidated through his family. He also complained about the move to withdraw his mother, Mama Ngina’s security saying that it is meant to frustrate him while the government is always aware of his whereabouts and can always find him without needing to go through his family.
