Renowned singer Tony Bennett passed away this Friday aged 96. Tributes have poured in for the elderly vocalist from family, friends and celebrities.
The singer’s death was made public through posts on his social media pages which highlighted that Mr. Bennett was still singing even just a few days before he died. Tony Bennett is acknowledged for songs like Body and Soul, and I Left My Heart in San Francisco.

Tony Bennett has been eulogized as a passionate singer and even named ‘the greatest singer in the world’ by fellow musicians and fans. He has made collaborations with famous singers like Lady Gaga, Carrie Underwood, Aretha Franklin, Judy Garland, John Legend and Placido Domingo. After the announcement of the singer’s passing, tributes from all over the world poured in, many acknowledging Bennettt’s singing prowess.
Those close to the singer have said that the singer was not only a singing icon, but also a good person in general.

Tony Bennett’s widow has made a statement on his death, thanking fans for ‘celebrating his life and humanity and sharing their love of him and his musical legacy’. In a post captioned ‘and as sad as today has been for all of us we can find joy in Tony’s legacy forever’, and signed by his wife and son, they celebrated the musician in his death.
Although the singer’s cause of death has not been revealed, reports indicate that he battled Alzheimers’s disease since his first diagnosis in 2016. According to a report by the Mayo Clinic, Alzheimer’s disease is a cognitive condition that results in the buildup of harmful proteins in the brain.
