Singer and Rare Beauty founder, Selena Gomez is sending sweet shout outs to her kidney donor Francia Raisa for her 35th birthday. Selena posts a carousel of pictures of her with Francia with a caption, ‘happiest birthday to this special human being. No matter where life takes us, I love you.’
The Grownish and How I met your father actress, Francia voluntarily donated her kidney to Selena Gomez to help her during her lupus battle back in 2017. This gave Selena Gomez a second chance in life and the two became even more closer.
In late 2022, however, their friendship boat was called into question when Francia reportedly unfollowed Selena on Instagram. This comes after Selena told Rolling Stone that Taylor Swift was her only close famous friend.
Francia commented on a post about the interview when she wrote, ‘interesting’ but later deleted it. Fans thought that she was throwing shade by doing so and sparked a lot of rumors. In May this year, Francia seemed to doge questions in regards to her friendship with Selena. One of the questions she seemed to avoid and ignore was whether or not she would follow Selena back on Instagram.

Days later, Francia spoke up about the hate she has been getting amid the feud rumors with Selena. She shared that the hate she was getting was pretty bad. She shared one of the comments she got that said, ‘I hope someone rips of your other kidney.’
Francia then shared that no one condones bullying especially Selena. She goes ahead to share that the hate has affected her mental health. She continues to say that she is doing her best to not listen or read to the negative comments and that she is trying to live her life happy.
Selena Gomez recently shared her appreciation for Francia on Apple TV plus series, Dear, which aired on March 2023. She said,
My best friend, her name is Francia. She said, ‘no, I’m absolutely getting tested.’ Within three days she got tested and she was a match. I know I was so lucky.
