Addressing the public during a rally, Raila Odinga proclaimed, “These signatures are not just numbers; they represent the collective voice of Kenyan citizens who are standing up to demand change. We have over 8 million signatures now, and we won’t stop until we reach 10 million!”

The Tumechoka Citizen’s Initiative, spearheaded by Raila Odinga, seeks to bring attention to what they claim is a disregard for the people’s concerns by President William Ruto and his administration.

Martha Karua, the co-principal of Azimio, explained the significance of the signatures during an interview at Spice FM.

“Those signatures are a body count of people exercising their will directly. They are not for taking to any institution. It is just a body count of people supporting the cause,” she emphasized.

The Azimio website, which was launched to facilitate the signature collection, has faced several cyber attacks from unknown sources.

Despite these attempts to disrupt the movement, Raila Odinga remains steadfast in his determination to bring about change through peaceful means.

He said, “We will not be deterred by these cowardly acts. This is a fight for the people, and no amount of attacks will silence us.”

Raila Odinga also took the opportunity to draw a comparison between the number of signatures gathered and the votes President William Ruto received in the previous election.

“Mr. Ruto supposedly got 7.1 million votes, but already we have over 8 million signatures. This just shows that the people’s support for our cause surpasses the votes he received in the last polls,” he asserted.

The signatures collected are expected to serve as a symbol of public dissatisfaction with the current government and a show of support for the protests against it.

Raila Odinga hopes that the demonstration of widespread discontent will prompt President Ruto and his administration to listen to the people’s grievances and address their concerns.

The signature collection exercise is part of the larger campaign of resistance and civil disobedience initiated by the Azimio movement. Raila Odinga believes that the power of the people’s voice is paramount in bringing about positive change for the nation.
