The bone of contention between the couple was the absence of meat on Crispin Nyaga’s ,man, plate when he returned home after a drinking spree.

Nyaga had left his wife Ksh. 2,000 for shopping, instructing her to purchase meat along with other commodities from the proceeds of a miraa sale, which earned him Ksh. 3,000 at the Kiritiri market.

Upon his return, a drunk and enraged Nyaga demanded food, only to find there was no meat on his plate.

This led to a heated argument, during which Nyaga viciously attacked Catherine ,the wife, with a machete causing a severe leg injury.

Despite the injury, the brutality did not end there, as he then struck her on the head with a piece of wood, killing her on the spot.

The court proceedings, presided over by High Court Judge Lucy Njuguna, unveiled shocking details of the murder.

In her ruling, Justice Njuguna emphasized that Nyaga posed a significant security threat to both his family and the community at large.

“By releasing you, we will cause more harm to the community. You are a serious offender to your family and the community; you deserve a custodial sentence for the safety of Kambaru people.” She Said.

Furthermore, village elders expressed concern that if released, Nyaga might harm his children.

Their fears added weight to the judge’s decision to hand down the 15-year sentence, ensuring that justice was served for Catherine’s death.
