The series, held in Nairobi, Kisumu, Mombasa, Nyeri, and Eldoret, saw an overwhelming response, with over 6,000 students signing up for online training. The top 100 students from each of the five regions were selected to attend the regional finals.

The boot camp offers numerous benefits to participants, including a Huawei Certification e-learning Course on Cyber Security, engaging virtual lab exercises, and invaluable mentorship from cyber security experts. This comprehensive approach aims to prepare students for successful careers in the cybersecurity domain.

Ezra Chiloba, the CA Director General, expressed his belief in the program’s effectiveness, stating that it will equip the students with essential skills to actively contribute to safeguarding critical information infrastructure in various sectors.

To further support cybersecurity learning in tertiary institutions, the Authority also organized two-day hands-on capacity-building workshops on July 24 and 25.

On July 25, Communications Authority, in partnership with Sarova Stanley, announced the top hackathon and boot camp teams’ winners from each regional final. These teams will advance to the National Final in Mombasa, scheduled to take place during the National Cyber Security Conference in October.

During the event, a notable concern was raised regarding the low number of female registrations compared to male participants. As a result, women were strongly encouraged to seize such opportunities to help reduce the gender imbalance in this crucial field.

The CA’s commitment to fostering cybersecurity awareness and skills through innovative programs like the Hackathon and Bootcamp series signifies a significant step towards a safer digital landscape for Kenya and its citizens.
