Lang’ata Memeber of Parliament Phelix Odiwuor, A.K.A. Jalang’o, issued a stern warning to event organizers. The public notice he issued stated that, 50% of labor must come from youth within the constituency.
According to a message in his Instagram post, the former actor and comedian warned that, failure to meet set conditions will nullify events.
New guideline. If you are hosting an event in Lang’ata venues and you don’t give our young people a chance to work at your event, the vent will not happen.

Jalang’o further went ahead to single out major hotspots in the area.
Carnivore, Uhuru Gardens, Nyayo Stadium. And any other venue in Lang’ata! 50% of jobs must be from Lang’ata Youths ama uende ufanye event kwenyu!

Kenyan netizens on the other hand, have not taken well to this notice. The lawmaker is being accused of actually breaking the law by issuing such a notice. The move is considered an unlawful undertaking, as no law prohibits any Kenyan citizen from hosting legal events at public venues.

However, as many may view this as him looking out for the youths of his constituency, others view this from a point of extortion.
We are not asking for a lot… Bouncers, casual waiters, stewards, parking crew, clean up team, ticketing and any other casual event jobs! Mambo ya kukalisha vijana wangu kwa mawe event iko mtaani just know haitafanyika.
