Couple Wins the Manchester Championship Singles Titles

Ali Farag and his wife Nour El Tayeb won the men’s and women’s singles title at the Manchester Open PSA Squash Championships.

In an interview with BBC, Farag highlighted some of the challenges they faced before the competition.

Farag spoke of how his wife El Tayeb went back to the gym to train two months after giving birth.

The Egyptian Professional Squash champion, went on ahead to add that the off-court achievements of his wife, leave him feeling embarrassed if he does not give a hundred and ten per cent in the field. The player also noted that his wife inspires him every day.

He recalled when he picked up a serious knee injury during the season, leading him to spend four months out.

“I’ve never dealt with anything like it before. During the injury, you lose faith, you question whether you’re ever going to come back,” Farag said.

However, Farag went on ahead to say that his wife helped him through the period.

“Because she’s been through an injury before and because she’s been through pregnancy, she pointed out that I would come through it. Men are not very easy to deal with when they are not doing their job. She understood very well and she kept giving me confidence that I would be back,” said Farag.
