In an attempt to avoid overshadowing the Denver Nuggets and Miami Heat game, the league wanted to wait until after to announce the verdict.
Morant has been suspended for the first 25 games of 2023/24 season. Adam Silver, the current commissioner of the NBA in his statement said:
“Ja Morant’s decision to once again wield a firearm on social media is alarming and disconcerting given his similar conduct in March for which he was already suspended eight games. Under this circumstances we believe a 25 game suspension is appropriate.”
In response to his suspension, Morant apologized to his fans as well as to the NBA.
In NBA’s history, only seven players have had a longer suspension than Ja Morant.
With the suspension, Morant is likely to set foot on the court early/ mid December
