High unemployment caused by advancement in the technology has led to some graduates opting to stay at home, rather than entering into the jungle of hustles.
This has also discouraged some parents to take their children to higher levels of education after completing high school level. With the increase in unemployment, these parents would rather start small businesses for their children.
However, not all parents can afford to start businesses for their children and also still cannot afford to take them for further studies. This even with the help of HELB which may not be applicable for also the non- government students, who might want to join even the tertiary institutions.
Nevertheless, some of these graduates at home end up aging making them to live a celibacy life, thus ending up not getting married or starting a family in future. This becomes discouraging as it means that the rate of birth rate may fall in the coming years. If there is low birth rate then in the future the number of youths will be low compared to the elderly, thus affecting the economy as youths are the major source of development.

In addition, celibacy might also be brought about by some youths fearing to raise their children in poverty due to lack of jobs. Also the rate of killings in relationships is also another factor, because these days some people hide their anger and depression in silence.
Also if one would also ask some youths why they would not want to get married, they would also give you example of famous celebrities like Lady Gaga, who even with all riches she chooses not to get married. Thus, they might end up saying “Why then should I have a family,if I do not even have a job.”

Despite of all this, thanks to the digital platforms such as YouTube, TikTok, blog apps which have been able to employ some youths to showcase their hidden and unknown talents like Flaqo, Azziad and the international tiktoker Khaby lame just at the comfort of their homes.
With these platforms, some youths have embraced them with passion making them to build their own brands in the international market. Not forgetting the online writing platforms, forex trade and transcribing which have made some youths to become millionaires at a very early age.
Also some youths are able to employ themselves together with also employing others. Example is Crazy kennar, a Jomo Kenyatta university graduate who has employed his agemates in his content creating brand ‘ Tales of crazy kennar.’
