Eid: CS Kithure Declares Friday a Public Holiday

Interior Cabinet Secretary, Kithure Kindiki has announced Friday to be a public holiday to celebrate Eid ul-Fitr.

Eid ul-Fitr is an important religious Islamic festival of breaking the fast to mark the end of Ramadan, and it is celebrated during the first three days of Shawwal, which is the tenth month in the Muslim (lunar) calendar.

On Wednesday, April 19, CS Kindiki declared Friday, April 21, a public holiday in the exercise of the powers conferred by section 2 (1) of the Public Holidays Act.

This day marks the end of the one-month long-fasting period as Msulims celebrate the religious holiday with their friends and family.
