Raila Odinga: I will live in Kibra when I retire

Raila Odinga, leader of the Azimio announced his retirement in Kibra while speaking to representatives of the Nubian community and the church.

“I will retire in Kibra. On the day I will retire, I will come to you to give me a plot in Kibra. I will set up a house there,” Raila said.

“You remember when there was the Mau saga, I said I was ready to go sell mandazis in Kibra. But the stones be kept away,” he said.

He expressed his condolences to Kibra residents and business owners who had lost property as a result of Monday’s protest.

“To those business people in Kibra, I am very sorry for the losses you incurred. We will stand with you. We said we will give you materials to reconstruct the burnt areas,” Raila said.

He urged his supporters to keep the protests peaceful.

Raila claimed that those responsible for the destruction of property in Kibra were not from the area.

He stated that Kibra is a place inhabited by Kenyans of all tribes who faithfully voted for him during his 20-year tenure as the area’s MP.

“Kibra is the face of Kenya. There is no tribe that cannot be found in Kibra,” he said.

During Monday’s protests, a mosque was set on fire, and a church was robbed and then set on fire by violent protestors.
