Kenyans have praised former Nairobi county Governor Mike Sonko after aiding female boxer Congestina Achieng to recover through rehabilitation.
Conjestina played a significant role in boxing matches. She became the first woman in the country to hold an international title.
Her career was cut short by the mental health issues that she had been battling for a while. After identifying her worsening condition, Sonko offered to check her into the Mombasa Women’s rehabilitation facility and also cleared all her bills.
Her condition was detected as paranoid schizophrenia, she retreated to her rural home in Gem, Siaya County.
While in Gem, Mike Sonko sent the rescue team to fly the boxing legend to Mombasa where she underwent treatment.

In the recent interview, Congestina’s health has greatly improved and she has even added some weight. Kenyans on social media platforms showcased their love for the former Nairobi county boss for his concern over the matter.
