Kenya and Zambia Partner to Advance Agricultural Output

Kenya and Zambia have partnered to advance their agricultural output and promote sustainable development in the sector for modern developments.

Speaking on Monday, March 6 in Lusaka, where Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, and Co-operatives Mithika Linturi held bilateral talks with Zambian Agriculture Minister, Reuben Mtolo said that Kenya will play a significant role in the agricultural sector with Zambia.

The talks aim is to increase productivity, improve food security, and create job opportunities in both countries.

Further, the collaboration between the two countries’ ministries of agriculture, will work together to promote the exchange of information, technology, and expertise in agriculture.

This will involve joint research and development initiatives, capacity-building programs, and the exchange of best practices in farming techniques.

Both countries are committed to achieving their respective agricultural goals, with Kenya aiming to increase its agricultural production by 20 percent by 2024, and Zambia seeking to become a regional hub for agricultural processing and trade.

By working together, the two countries can leverage their respective strengths and create a more sustainable and productive agricultural sector for the benefit of their citizens.

Zambian Agriculture Minister, Reuben Mtolo said that the government has agreed to offer Kenyan farmers land for large-scale farming in the country.

CS Linturi was accompanied by Crops Development Principal Secretary Harsama kello, Kenyan Ambassador in Zambia, Flora Karugu, and Food and Agriculture Organization Director Kenya Carla Mucavi.
