Harambee Stars Head Coach Engin Firat Drops Benson Omala From Final Squad

Gor Mahia striker and FKF Premier League top scorer Benson Omala is one of three players dropped on Thursday by the Harambee Stars head coach


Kenya Head Coach Engin Firat submitted his final squad on Thursday, March 23, omitting Gor Mahia striker Benson Omala, and Bandari defenders Mohamed Siraj and Andres ‘Roma’ Juma. A promising striker at just 21 with 19 goals in 20 matches. Yes, the move by the coach has received plenty of backlash with plenty of Kenyans shocked at how the FKF PL’s leading scorer was dropped.

On Wednesday, Engin Firat dropped AFC Leopards keeper Levis Opiyo, Nzoia Sugar duo of Hassan Beja and Joseph Mwangi, and KCB centre-back Maurice Ojwang’.

The Kenya national football team leaves on Sunday for Tehran ahead of the friendly fixture with Iran on Tuesday, 28th March. Sources close to Engin Firat revealed the Kenya Head Coach deemed Omala as well as the other six players did not fit in his system.
