Francis Gachuri Announces his Exit from Royal Media Services

The celebrated Kenyan-born journalist Francis Gachuri has announced his exit from Royal Media Services based in Nairobi after 16 years.

While at RMS, Gachuri was a political reporter and editor at the same time for Citizen TV and also the host of a political show ‘Kiririmbi’ at iNooro TV.

He is a top-notch rated broadcaster of the highly-ranked news commentary show known as the News Gang.

In an emotional farewell to his colleagues early Wednesday, March 1 during a weekly editorial meeting, Gachuri, who is heading to the Ministry of Interior and National Administration as the Secretary, of Strategic Communications, said he will be leaving the Media outlet by the end of this week.

“On September 1, 2007, I joined Royal Media Services as a political reporter. I announce my exit to take up another national task. I am so grateful and humbled by many experiences, lessons, and opportunities I have had in the Media industry,” Gachuri said during a meeting.

“I have called this place home, when I came here, I was a young man, who did not even have a family then. All my major milestones have happened. Now I have two families, my wife and kids and as well as the Royal Media Services (RMS) family that includes my colleagues, our viewers, listeners, and readers” Gachuri added.

He on the other hand thanked the Media outlet owners, chairman SK Macharia and Vice-Chair Mrs. Macharia together with the Managing Director Wachira Waruru and other directors including Linus Kaikai, Fred Afune, Latifah Ngunjiri, Moses Karanja, Micheal Ngugi, and Carol Wanyama for being an integral part of his career.

“I thank God for every stage I have passed through, I honour and treasure my colleagues in the industry. The invaluable guidance of my bosses will always be truly appreciated all the time,” he said in a statement.
