The Premier League battle has just intensified after Manchester United beat Leicester City to move just three points from second-placed Manchester City.

Speaking to SkySports, Manchester United Manager Erik Ten Hag said,

“We’re happy with the result, it’s a great result. When you play every third day you can’t always get to the same performance. Today was really tough.

“First half Leicester played brilliant, we were rubbish, the way we were really undisciplined. We had problems and it was only because of David de Gea that we had a clean sheet at half-time.

“Luckily we had half-time, we could repair some things and the second half was brilliant. There was a lot of pleasure, it was enjoyable to watch how we created so many chances and scored great goals.”

Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea made 11 crucial saves in the first half to keep out Leicester. Kelechi Iheanacho could not find the back of the net following magnificent saves by De Gea.

Marcus Rashford scored in the 25th minute to change the momentum of the fixture in the Red Devils’ favour. Bruno Fernandes’ outfoot pass found Rashford who scored in the bottom corner. 1-0 at halftime.

It took just 10 minutes for Manchester United to extend their lead in the second half after Marcus Rahsford’s goal stands after VAR intervention; slipped in by Fred to extend the lead.

Five minutes later, second-half substitute Jadon Sancho scored the third goal for United, from a sublime cutback from Bruno Fernandes. This season, Manchester United have picked up 29 of 36 possible points at home.  The last time they lost at home in the Premier League was on the opening day of the season, against Brighton.

United face Barcelona in the Europa League knockout round play-off second leg on Thursday and will be hoping their home form remains consistent for a morale-boosting win for the team amid the club’s sale to a new owner. 3-0 was the final score.
