An important week for Manchester United, highlight the fact that Sir Alex Ferguson held a meeting over a meal with Erik ten Hag ahead of the UEFA Europa League Playoff clash between Manchester United and Barcelona, at Old Trafford. Sir Alex Ferguson won 28 major trophies in 27 years with Manchester United. Calling Ferguson a legend at the club almost sounds like an understatement and Ten Hag’s response to SkySports was that the help was ‘massive’.
Manager Erik ten Hag has overseen an incredible revival at Manchester United with Marcus Rashford in remarkable form. After the meeting, Ten Hag had this to say about Sir Alex Ferguson, “I always enjoy speaking with people who have a lot of knowledge and experience, and he wants to share it. He wants to help and support.
“You feel Manchester United is his club. He feels so committed and wants us to do well.
“It was a great night and I’m looking forward to the next night with him.”

United drew 2-2 with Barcelona at Camp Nou and will be feeling optimistic about the second leg. Raphael Varane has plenty of experience having faced Barcelona in La Liga and will be in a solid backline with Lisandro Martinez, in-form Wan Bissaka, and Luke Shaw on the wings. Marcus Rashford leads from the front.
In the last 15 home matches, Manchester United have won 14 and drawn just once, turning Old Trafford back to a fortress. However, against Spanish opposition in 2022, United lost against Real Sociedad and Atletico Madrid at Old Trafford.
Lisandro Martinez, Casemiro, and Sabitzer will all be eligible to play against Barcelona who will play without Gavi through the accumulation of yellow cards, and Pedri who’s out with a hamstring injury he sustained in the first leg.
