Gor Mahia vs Mathare United is set to be played on Wednesday, according to CapitalFM. The 19-time league champions are looking to make history this season, with coach McKinstry affirming the club’s desire to sign ‘big players’. Speaking to CapitalSports the K’ogalo tactician said, “Gor Mahia should not sign small players. As long as I am here, the type of players we sign are either top top quality players or the next generation of top talent.”

On Saturday Gor Mahia beat Kenya Police 2-1 in the ‘Sirkal’ derby and will be looking to extend their FKF-PL lead to 7 points when they face Mathare United. KCB tie Nzoia Sugar in second place on the log with goal difference separating the two sides.

Currently, Mathare are ranked 15th in the league and the fixture against Gor Mahia is crucial in this campaign. They will be fighting to avoid the drop zone.

Gor Mahia’s last title was three years ago, and Kenya’s most successful club won the league in 1968, 1974, 1976, 1979, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1987, 1990, 1991, 1993, 1995, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2018-19 and 2019-20, and will be working hard to appease their fans and make history by bagging a 20th title. Leading their charges this season is Benson Omalla with 16 goal and a hatrick last week on Tuesday against Wazito FC.
