Harry Kane scored a brace on Wednesday night; Tottenham lethal in the Premier League away fixture. Antonio Conte’s team had to bounce back from a 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa on New Year’s Day.

With his brace, Harry Kane has now scored 198 goals in 300 Premier League games and is just two short of Tottenham Hotspurs’ all-time top scorer Jimmy Greaves.

3 minutes after the break, Ivan Perisic floated the ball to the back post for Harry Kane to rise highest and score over Crystal Palace goalkeeper V. Guaita. 1-0 Spurs!

The goal by Harry Kane put a stop to a 10-game streak, dating back to mid-October, in which Spurs had conceded the first goal.

Harry Kane doubled Spurs’ lead five minutes later with a cool first touch from inside the box and a powerful drive into Guaita’s right-hand post. Is Conte convinced to stay at this point?

Saints Destroyed by Forest

Southampton are rock-bottom of the Premier League and their efforts to escape relegation this season have been halted by Nottingham Forest who are now in 15th place after the win. The win was Forest’s first away win this season and is a confidence booster especially after moving out of the drop zone.

Southampton are on a poor run of form and have not gained a single point in four games since manager Nathan Jones replaced Ralph Hasenhuttl in November.

Speaking after the game, the Saints manager said,

“The blame lies solely with me, I set them up, asked them to do certain things but we need to give ourselves a better opportunity to win the game.

“We can’t gift a goal a game and we’ve done that almost every game. Something has to change quickly and we need a bit of luck.”

Taiwo Awoniyi scored the only goal of the game in the 26th minute from a swift break after Southampton lost the ball in midfield.
