Government Releases Ksh 8.5B to Pay Inua Jamii Beneficiaries

The government has released Ksh 8.5 billion as the payment to Ksh 1.7 billion Inua Jamii Cash Transfer Program Beneficiaries currently on the payroll.

In a statement from the Director of Social Protection Judy Tuda on Wednesday, January 4, the payment will cover the months of July, August, September, and October respectively.

The government has released Ksh 8.5 billion as the payment to Ksh 1.7 billion Inua Jamii Cash Transfer Program Beneficiaries.

Judy Tuda said that the payments will see each beneficiary get Ksh 8,000 disbursed through the Payment Service Providers (PSPs), beginning Thursday, January 12, 2023.

The government will also disburse an additional amount of Ksh 8.4 million as complimentary top-ups to 4,549 beneficiaries of the Nutrition Improvement through Cash and Health Education (NICHE).

The latest lies on the backdrop of concerns over delayed payments of the fund with the department of social protection saying that the delay had been occasioned by the National Treasury after the Kenya Kwanza regime took over office.

Under the Inua Jamii program, the beneficiaries are eligible for Ksh 2000 monthly stipend.

Further, the Inua Jamii program under the Ministry of Labour targets orphans and vulnerable children, older persons, and persons with severe disabilities to access the benefits.
