The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) held discussions with the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) over a partnership in the fight against corruption.
On Wednesday, January 4, the EACC revealed that chief Executive Officer Twalib Mbarak met top FBI Director Christopher Way and Section officials Chief Timothy Stone in Washington DC.
The talks at the FBI agent’s headquarters centered on working relations to stomp out corruption in the country.
“FBI and EACC deliberated on enhancing technical support in the investigation and prosecution of complex corruption cases.
“Consultations were also held on capacity building for key actors in the criminal justice sector and support in the acquisition of modern investigative tools,” EACC wrote.
The Federation Bureau of Investigation leadership will work with the Office of the Directorate of Public Prosecution (ODPP) headed by Noordin Haji.
The FBI confirmed its commitment to work with the anti-graft commission and the ODPP in combating economic crimes in the country.
This was the second meeting between the EACC and the federal agency in as many months.

In November 2022, Mbarak hosted senior officials from the FBI at the EACC headquarters at Integrity Centre, Nairobi.
The discussions dwelled on collaboration in the fight against trans-border corruption and related crimes such as money laundering.
EACC held multiple conversations with like-minded institutions across the world.
In 2022, officials hosted delegates from South Africa and Mozambique to exchange experiences and best practices on key anti-corruption strategies.
So far the commission’s greatest achievement is the recovery of unexplained wealth from Kenyans.
