After the mass layoff of some of Nation Media Group’s seasoned journalists, including Mark Masai, NTV has introduced Ibrahim Karanja as one of its news anchors.
On Saturday, December 3, 2022, Karanja made his debut, beginning a new chapter in his career.
His first NTV at One news bulletin aired on Saturday, and friends joined the media house in congratulating him.

“At exactly one O’clock on this day of December (2022) you are just in time for NTV at One, my name is Ibrahim Karanja.
“Let’s get this show started,” Karanja said as he took over as anchor of the newscast for the first time.
The journalist has been with the media conglomerate for five months, after leaving rival Standard Media Group-owned KTN News.
During his four-year tenure at KTN, he worked as a correspondent for Nyeri and Nakuru and honed his skills.

He joined NTV in July 2022 and began his career as a news anchor during a period of massive restructuring at the company.
Mark Masai was among those affected by the restructuring, which ended his fourteen-year career at NTV.
“This is the reality of the media landscape around the world and unfortunately, I was at the losing end of this one.
“However, this is not the end of my career in the media, I will be back on other platforms. All I have to say is watch this space,” Masai said after exiting NTV.
