China’s Government has announced key plans to ease Covid-19 control measures in order to uplift the Tourism Sector starting next year.
For the last three years, China’s Zero-Covid policy had moved in and out of its borders restricted. The country will reopen to those in possession of work and study visas, with China set to end mandatory quarantine for travellers from January 8, geared towards reviving its economy.
Moves were strategically taken to boost the resumption of Cross-Provincial Group Travel Tours and the sector is starting to gain its true Image in the country.
The Chinese Official Tourism Research Institute has predicted that 550 million Domestic Trips will be made during the Eight-day holiday, which this year coincides with the Mid-Autumn Festival.
Inquiries for Travel Products and Services have surged since people are keen to go and visit different places. Tickets for trips between Cities tripled on major Online Ticket Booking Platforms.
Though impressive, that is still only about 70% of the number in the same period last year, reflecting the sizable number of people being kept home by Economic Insecurity or Lingering fear of Infection.

Data from the Chinese Travel Service Platform Fliggy shows that the number of Air Ticket Bookings for New Year’s Day increased by more than Three times in the past Seven days.
Experts expect that there will be Peak Travel during the Spring Festival. And the full resumption of Tourism could be expected by the National Day holiday next October.
“The Energy has been pent-up for too long so we can predict that this National Day will not be relaxing at all,” said Lisa Li a Manager at a Shanghai Travel agency.
Further, Tickets for Beijing’s Forbidden City are sold out, but Capacity is Limited to 75%.
