Central Kenya Elders Endorse Gachagua as Their Kingpin

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has earned an upper hand to succeed former President Uhuru Kenyatta as the Central Kenya Political Kingpin.

The political boost comes after the Kikuyu Council of Elders declared their support for Gachagua and his boss, President William Ruto on Tuesday, December 20 in a joint meeting.

In a joint meeting led by the Council’s National Vice Chairman David Muthoga vowed to support the Kenya Kwanza ruling regime for its developmental strategies. 

“We are proud of William Ruto for picking Rigathi Gachagua as his deputy and we do not have a choice other than supporting developmental strategies at any operational means,” David Muthoga said in a statement.

“The mountain must remain united and the only way we will achieve that is by supporting DP Gachagua which is our main developmental gateway to President Ruto,” the Nyeri County Governor-Mutahi Kahiga clarified.

On the other hand, Rigathi Gachagua on Monday, December 19, called on the former Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta, and other Central Kenya political leaders supporting the Azimio La Umoja coalition to join the Kenya Kwanza administration.

“If the former president has noted that there are no benefits in being in the Azimio la Umoja coalition, he should return home and join the Kenya Kwanza regime,” Deputy President made a remark.

Rigathi Gachagua also said in a statement that his intention was to unite the Central Kenya region under one political umbrella and significantly mentor young political leaders.
