On the stroke of halftime, Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden scored with a fantastic half-volley to cancel out Ivan Toney’s 16th-minute opener.

The Bees forward seemingly put in a performance to reiterate the good form that sees him second to Harry Kane as the Englishman with the most goals in the Premier League this season, despite being left out of Gareth Southgate’s 2022 Qatar World Cup Squad.

Toney’s brace may have stood out, but the standout performer and Man of the Match was Brentford defender, Ben Mee.

The defender was on top of his game and had Erling Haaland within stride the whole match. He capped off an impressive performance with an assist for Toney’s opener.

After the match, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola conceded defeat to Brentford, admitting that his team struggled with Brentford’s long balls.

Speaking to BBC, Guardiola noted,

“The best team won, we struggled from the beginning and we couldn’t deal with their long balls.

“Usually you press the balls to win it but this was different. They defended so deep and so well.

“We didn’t have the dynamic today because we were dictated by long balls that we were losing.

“The game was so difficult, it was so tight.

“They did really well in the plan they had and were better.

“We have done exceptional in the Champions League and well in the Premier League. We’ll come back and prepare for the second half of the season now.”

Tottenham Win Big

Rodrigo Bentancur settled an end-to-end fixture as Tottenham beat Leeds United 4-3. Crysencio Summerville opened the scoring for Leeds as the visitors looked dangerous on the counter-attack.

Harry Kane equalized just 10 minutes later despite appeals for a foul on goalkeeper Illan Meslier by the Leeds faithful. Right before the break, Leeds were back in front.

A fine finish from Rodrygo meant that Leeds led at halftime. In the second half, it didn’t take long for parity to be restored. Ben Davies made it 2-2 before Rodrigo put Leeds back ahead, completing his brace.

Rodrigo Bentancur’s heroics in the final minutes saw the Uruguayan secure the win for Spurs, scoring twice late in the game.

Darwin Nunez Scores Brace as Liverpool Beat Saints

Nunez gave in arguably his best performance since signing for Liverpool from Benfica, scoring twice and adding to his tally of nine goals in as many starts.

Brazil forward Firmino was left out of Head Coach Tite’s 2022 Qatar World Cup Squad but showed no signs of being pulled down by any of that.

Within six minutes of the match, the forward opened the scoring with a glancing header from Andy Robertson’s freekick. Che Adams equalized for Southampton a few minutes later.

Nunez then scored twice through assists by Harvey Elliott and Andy Robertson.
