Gerard Pique picked his 11th red card as an FC Barcelona player on Tuesday during their away fixture against Osasuna in LaLiga.

Last week, Pique announced his retirement, playing his last match at the Spotify Camp Nou.

The club legend was sent off despite not setting foot on the pitch. Pique got enraged after several referee decisions seemed unfair to the Barcelona faithful.

Pique’s argument with referee Jesus Gil Manzano, at halftime, saw him make quite a unique final stat as an FC Barcelona player. According to ESPN, Pique’s complaints following the referee into the tunnel saw him see red even before making his 617th appearance as a Barca player.

Pique joined the elite club of Barcelona players with the most red cards, matching Hristo Stoichkov’s 11.

Surprisingly, Pique and referee Gil Manzano have got some history of confrontation. In 2021, against Real Madrid, Pique confronted the referee for not adding enough stoppage time.

A foul on Marcos Alonso, leading to Osasuna scoring first, and a second yellow card for Robert Lewandowski, saw Pique confront the referee. The red card was the correct decision but Pique’s reaction made his jinx with the number 11 continue.

On the other hand, Robert Lewandowski is new to red cards in LaLiga after picking his first and only the third in his career.
