Deputy President’s wife Dorcas Rigathi reveals starting up a ‘boy Child on the Save’ initiative, as she attended a SACCO meeting overseeing projects.

Dorcas Rigathi on Wednesday spoke in a SACCO meeting she was attending and hinted at establishing ‘Boy child on the save initiative in overseeing state projects.

She hinted at plans to empower the boy child. The main goal is to offer financial freedom and opportunities to the boy’s child and men.

In a meeting attended by SACCOs, she revealed she had plans to introduce national empowerment projects in conjunction with the Kenya Union of Savings and Credit Cooperation (KUSCCO).

“As a government, we are very sure that we are going to partner with SACCOs and change the economy from the bottom up. The bottom-up movement stated from the cooperative movement and the SACCOS are the answers to the future of Kenya. Our youth, women and vulnerable also create a thriving and vibrant economy,” she said.

Present was the CEO of KUSCCO George Ototo, he pledged to support the cooperatives for the second lady’s move which will be a national project.

“We share the vision of Her Excellency and her flagship projects and we assure her of our support. At the structural level of SACCOs we will create divisions strategically to empower the boy child,” Ototo said.

“We will also contribute towards the rehabilitation of the boy child through sports activities and push the boy child towards more productive activities,” He further added.

This comes at a time whereby the boy child’s needs have over time been ‘neglected and overlooked. In contrast to women and girl child empowerment that has been forwarded and brought to realization.

On Thursday as she interacted with roadside sellers at Kijabe still on her empowerment plan with her statements she showed her commitment.

“This was pursuant to the boy-child program that I plan to undertake. I listened to them articulate their issues and plan to listen to input from all stakeholders in a bid to uplift the lives of the boys and men around us,” she said.
