Gerald Lumuchele, a 26-year-old man, was charged in court with allegations of forging a degree certificate from Moi University on Thursday, November 3.
The suspect is said to have forged a degree certificate based in Computer Science, arguing that he got second-class honours on December 17, 2021.
Luckily enough, the 26-year-old man was hired as a cyber-security analyst after applying and undergoing an interview process with the bank’s human resource management.
He denied the charges before Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Bernard Ochoi.
Lumuchele had worked for the bank for Five (5) months but was discovered after the Human Resource manager ordered verification of his academic qualifications.
The educational background investigation conducted by authorities ascertained that it was not issued by the said University.
The court also outlined that the suspect’s name did not appear on the printed version of the graduates’ list.

The man was freed on a cash bail of Ksh100,000 after being charged with forging academic documents, hence the court did not set a date to mention the case.
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission of Kenya-EACC earlier notified the universities to act quickly to curb the issue of fake degrees as far as education is concerned.
