“Death is painful to the bereaved family. But I wish for one that is less painful to me,” he stated.

He claimed to have dreams of death in which he falls asleep and does not wake up the next morning.

The Siaya Senator went on to add, “The best death is one where you do not have to struggle. It is what I am wishing for.”

Dr. Oburu Odinga disclosed this during the burial ceremony of Stanley Aluma, father to Homa Bay Town member of parliament Peter Kaluma at their Ndiru Village, Homa Bay Town Constituency.

The deceased, according to Dr. Oburu Odinga, was a childhood friend with whom he shared memorable moments, including swimming at Koginag Beach in Lake Victoria.

They both attended Ogande Primary School and sat in the same class. While Aluma stayed with his parents in Rodi Kopany, Oburu Odinga stayed with a teacher at the school.

According to the family, Aluma died after a long struggle with diabetes and was pronounced dead on October 4th after collapsing during his normal daily activities

The Siaya Senator, Dr. Oburu Odinga also said he is suffering from diabetes and is aware of the health complications that come with it.

The former East African Legislative Assembly member who is now 79 years old has been having difficulty walking especially when attending political gatherings.

He added that he does not want to bother his family as he approaches death.

“Getting to a point where you have to be helped to get to the toilet when sick is something I wish will not happen to men. Reaching such stages adds burden to family members,” Dr. Oburu said.
