Moses Kajwang of ODM party Selected to magnificently Chair Public Accounts Committee

In Politics; Homa Bay County Senator Moses Kajwang was on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, elected in the Parliament of Kenya to chair the Senate Public Accounts Committee tasked to oversee the flow of resource use by the governments.

According to the Senate Public Accounts Committee, the Senator will be deputized by Nandi Senator -Samson Cherargei.

Inclusively, other senators selected for the committee are Nyandarua County Senator- John Methu, his Busia County counterpart Okiyah Omtahtah, Nairobi County- Edwin Sifuna, and Fatuma Dullo of Isiolo County respectively.

Also Kisii County Senator -Richard Onyonka, Nominated Senator -Omar Marim Sheikh, and Tharaka Nithi County Senator- Mwenda Gataya were purely included.

Kajwang’s political factor made him a solid appointment for the committee’s chair position. The outcome will be his third term as the committee’s chairperson.

Speaking after his election, Mr. Kajwang’ simplified that he will collaborate with all members in ensuring better outcomes for the selected committee.

“Strategically, my solid ideas remain at a higher-notch perspective. Thus, promising advanced outcomes by any means. So I will work hand in hand with my colleagues for the progress,” Kajwang’s said.

On the other hand, Godfrey Osotsi Senator-Vihiga County Senator was also elected as the chairperson of the County Public Investments and Special Funds Committee to be deputised by Kisumu County Senator-Professor Tom Ojienda.

Financial records are the main agenda, and he ensures transparency in the utility of Public resources in the Senate. 

Both committees also have powers that resemble that of the High Court of summoning county officials and any person of interest for questioning on matters concerning the use of public resources.

Significantly, the two committee bodies initially functioned as the County Public Accounts and Investments Committee (CPAIC) before the division into two entities.

The two committee will also oversee the general finacial outflow for the identified developmental agendas at large.
