The body of Mama Ida Odinga’s bodyguard has been found today early morning on October 14, after he was shot dead by assailants.
Kisumu County Commander Alphonse Kimathi indicates the bodyguard, Barack Onyango was involved in an altercation with an unnamed man before a shootout ensued.
Nyanza regional police boss Karanja Muiruri, and Mama Ida’s head of security, David Masaga, confirmed the bodyguard’s demise this early morning.
Barack Onyango body has been taken to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital morgue pending autopsy.
The team from Mr Odinga has also confirmed the incident. “Yes, we have information of his being shot dead. We do not have further information as of now,” said Mr Odinga’s spokesperson Dennis Onyango.
Eyewitnesses claimed he was shot at his Riat home in Kisumu West Sub-County, near Odinga’s residence.

However, there are reports that the bodyguard was partying at a club near his home, in Riat Kisumu West Sub-County.
The detectives are on a manhunt for the criminal who left the crime scene unknown.
