The Langata MP urged President William Ruto to free prisoners in the country since most of them are charged with petty offences in relation to the politicians’ graft cases dropped.

From his opinion, Jalas added that most politicians who supported President Ruto are now being awarded by either getting positions in parliament or having cases against them dropped.

“Vile walisema freedom is here, wacha wajibambe. Saa hizi ndio ameamua kuachilia kesi zote? Inafaa hata wafungue maprison zote kila mtu atoke. Ruto sasa anafaa kungua prison zote aseme hakuna mtu akona kesi Kenya hii. Watu wako kwa jela wanaumia kwasababu ya macases haziko na hapa kuna kesi zinaendelea alafu zinaangushwa. Mr president, this is my request for you, fungua prisons kila mtu atoke ndio watu waanze kushiwa upya,” he said.

DPP Noordin Haji has been in the spotlight this week for dropping cases against politicians aligned to Kenya Kwanza or who heavily supported Ruto despite losing elections in the respective counties.

Among key politicians that their cases have been dropped include Aisha Jumwa who is on of Ruto’s cabinet secretary appointees.

Another person who has also benefitted from this move is Mohammed Ali, whose case against Kenyatta family-owned Brookside Dairy Limited was thrown out on Thursday 13.

In an online media interview with Mungai Eve, Jalas said there were people serving terms in prison for petty cases, yet those involved in huge cases are walking away scot-free.

While on the cabinet secretaries list, Jalas held that there was a higher likelihood of all being approved because of the parliamentary committee set up.
